Inuit Broadcasting Corporation Nunavut Media Arts Centre Campaign Update

(September 16, 2011:  Iqaluit, Nunavut)IBC’s plan to build the Nunavut Media Arts Centre is continuing and expected to gather some steam over the next couple of months.  Currently, IBC has several major proposals for funding  at various stages of  review to continue the work on the Nunavut Media Arts Centre.  We are anticipating responses in the coming weeks.

We are actively engaged in discussions to enter into partnerships with entities who share our vision – building foundational cultural infrastructures – providing a venue that will boost awareness, promotion and output of filmmakers, musicians, dancers, theatre groups and other performance arts.

We are hoping to  take the next steps in the process to build and plan to launch an exciting fundraising campaign with the assistance of our  very talented and dedicated advisory committee.  A key element  of the fundraising  strategy is to introduce a website designed to accept and to track donations.

Recently, IBC has been contacted specifically by individual  supporters both in Nunavut and southern Canada,  asking  how to donate to the building campaign.  Until such time as the website  is up and running, it is possible to donate by cheque or email money transfer, using the contacts on the main IBC website, www.inuitbroadcasting.ca.  IBC is a charitable organization (10751 3384 RR0001) and will issue tax receipts promptly.

IBC is encouraged by the recent level of interest in the plan to build a Nunavut Media Arts Centre, in particular, the potential donor initiated inquiries.
